Make a difference

If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.

Have a break

Take time out. It’s not a real vacation if you’re reading email or calling in for messages.

Finding middle ground

The tension of opposites: Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn’t. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.

A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle.

Great artists steal

An artist is a creature driven by demons. He doesnโ€™t know why they choose him and heโ€™s usually too busy to wonder why. He is completely amoral in that he will rob, borrow, beg, or steal from anybody and everybody to get the work done.

Two years

Two yearsโ€”

Since I last saw my parents in the flesh.

Since I took my first photo of Autumn leaves.

Since I registered for a library membership card.

Since I told myself my future’s changed for the better.

Two yearsโ€”

Since I started living with truly multi-cultural housemates.

Since I rolled my eyes at the seven types of tinned tomatoes.

Since I learnt that using three onions for every meal is a luxury.

Since I realised the grass isn’t greener on the other side.

Two yearsโ€”

Since I considered my creative writing seriously.

Since I began pursuing my own twisted path.

Since I appreciated currency conversions.

Since I left India and landed in Canberra.
