Ready

Photo of a Qantas plane stationary on the tarmac.

Decked up and ready,
primed to take the storms head on—
pilot grabs the mic.

Day break

Light is upon us:
desperate to stay awake,
sun and moon tangle.

Storm coming

Photo of Currumbin beach in the Gold Coast, taken from the rocks at dusk with dark and stormy clouds gathering in the distant horizon.

Dark clouds amassing:
surfers moan and tourists groan;
storm chasers rejoice.

Alas,

photo of three morning glory flowers on the footpath

The three musketeers
flowering, seek adventure—
sprayed by passing dogs.

King cat

I strut on your bed,
walking over your REM sleep—
hail your feline king.
