Watching

Close up photo of a tiny orange ladybug perched on the edge of a white picnic rug.

Spotted ladybug,
joining us on a picnic,
observes humankind.

Calm

Beachside holiday;
sea spray whipping through straight hair,
sun shines between leaves.

Rising

Photo of the early morning rays of sunshine behind a row of gumtrees.

Climbs every mountain,
peers over back yards and trees;
model hiker: sun.

Break out

close up photo of a brown egg with spots on it

Adolescent egg,
scared to come out of the shell—
breaks out in pimples.

Dance

photo of the full moon, as seen from behind a tree

Making the tides dance,
cowering behind a tree—
puppeteering moon.
