Empty

Photo of an empty beach with evergreen pine trees lining the road in the distance.

Evergreen patches;
no human being in sight—
winter on the beach.

Flight

Photo of the sunset on a bed of clouds in the horizon, as seen from a plane.

Flying at sunset
I sleep amongst the heavens—
a pillow of clouds.

Awakening

Photo of the Melbourne outskirts as seen from the window seat of a plane that’s starting its descent.

I’m diving head first,
ground rises up to meet me—
we land; nightmare ends.

Expecting

Close up photo of a bunch of purple flowers in the foreground with a cloudy sky in the background.

Flowers in waiting;
fist rain drops of the season
drifting overhead.

Joy

Photo of the sun filtering through the branches of a pepper tree, as seen from below.

Raining down blessings,
brightening up pepper trees—
summertime sunshine.
