Undying Love

He finished the letter in which he professed his undying love for her. Then he threw it away – Today’s Author

With tears in his eyes, he wandered into the chilly February night.

Confused, his room-mate picked up the crumbled letter from wastepaper bin.

Over the next minute, countless thoughts ran amok in his head. He quickly copied the letter onto a fresh paper. Heaving a sigh, he threw the crumbled paper back into the bin, and strode away with the new letter.

And the next time the two room mates met, he was already engaged to her.

Love is sharing.

The Admirer

The private investigator went to see his client, returned her money and said he could no longer take the case. Today’s Author

the admirer

She stood in the middle of the room, clutching the heavy envelope, confused.

She had hoped he would help her find her admirer. “Perhaps he’d come around later,” she thought. He could do with the money.

That evening, she opened her mailbox, and sure enough, there were a bunch of white lilies as usual.

With a slender smile, she took flowers. That’s when she noticed a tiny envelope attached to the flowers.

She frowned, for the first time, the admirer had left a note. She tore it open.

You’re beautiful when you smile at the flowers.

Smile more.

Good day.

The Gift

The neatly wrapped box sat atop a pile of garbage.

A heavily ragged man emerged from a nearby alley, limped purposefully towards the trash can, picked up the wrapped box and walked away mutely. As he did everyday.

Halfway around the city, on a pile of trash, sat another box.

The Plan

After all the hype and all the changes in schedule, the weather forecast turned out to be completely wrong. Today’s Author

He re-read the schedule. Everything had to be perfect. Everyone had to obey orders. All had to go as planned.

He didn’t waver even when — without warning —  it started to snow. The others rejoiced, but he knew the plan had to go on. A lot was at stake.

“All right kids,” he called aloud. “Nothing’s stopping us.”

They looked at each other, mutely.

“Let’s do this!”

And he led the group to their deaths.
