Cherry

photo of a bush with pink flowers on them, and Rangitoto Island and the ocean in the background

Fifty shades of green—
as far as the eye could see,
pink cherry on top.

Tiny

Photo of a small wooden bench below an old and giant tree, on Mount Saint John, a volcanic peak in Auckland.

Tiny wooden bench
underneath a giant tree;
human life on earth.

Predator

Close up photo of a flowering plant, in which there are several tiny spiders weaving an elaborate web.

Elaborate webs
feigning hospitality—
tiny grey spiders.

Blur

photo of rain on a window pane at night, with the lights on the street in blur

All the world’s a blur:
raindrops on my window pane—
mirroring my eyes.

Out

Close up photo of a big yellow flower, decaying.

Showing our wrinkles
greys settle—pretty flowers
on their way out.
