Flowering

Close up photo of almond flowers, with the winter sun in the background.

Nurtured by the sun:
first flowers of the season;
smiling mother, earth.

Eyes

Close up photo of a golden retriever laying on his side, looking straight into the camera.

Driving into you,
drooling all over the floor;
dog’s whole-hearted love.

Undisturbed

Photo of a gigantic tree, with thick branches spreading pell mell in all directions.

Strong willed, far reaching,
a cacophony of limbs;
tree that’s left alone.

Teachers

photo of pine trees as seen from below

Look up to grownups;
aiming high, heads in the clouds—
pines know how to thrive.

Guard

Photo of a golden retriever sat in a room, looking at the camera, half of his body hidden behind the slightly-ajar door.

Guardian angel
dog sat by his human’s door,
eyes on the target.
