Cloudy

photo of the evening sky with wispy clouds and the smoke of a jet

Clouded with purpose;
swirling wisps of plane’s butt smoke,
summer’s warm night sky.

Settling down

photo of the sun setting behind a large tree and old houses

Behind old concrete,
magnificent retirement—
sun in a time loop.

Glowing

Photo of the deep vibrant orange glow of the sunset behind big trees.

The horizon swells,
an orange in its belly;
setting summer sun.

Guiding light

Photo of a big cloud at sunset, surrounded by and orange glow, as seen from the window seat of a plane.

Vibrantly orange
leaping ahead of our plane,
ghost cloud leads the way.

Day break

Light is upon us:
desperate to stay awake,
sun and moon tangle.
