Runneth over

Photo of a person holding a mug over their face. The mug has an image of R2D2, the fictional character, and the phrase, Just roll with it.

Mugs have good advice
if only we listened more
life runneth over

Filter

Photo of the Auckland city as seen through a lace-curtained window on a high floor of a hotel.

We see through filters
a hazy distorted world
Instagram-worthy

Somewhere

Photo of a rainbow in the sky just after a light rain.

Over the rainbow
somewhere there’s a better world
our lives make sense there

Promise

Photo of the Rangitoto island in the distance and a small yacht in front of it, as seen from the shore.

The distant island

promise of greener grasses

voyaging in vain

Purpose

Photo of the shadow of a person with a backpack, walking.

Stick figures walking,
seeking sun and green pastures—
a life in shadows.
