Paper

cropped photo of the Australian citizenship document, featuing only the coat of arms, the text Commonwealth of Australia, Australian Citizenship Act, 2007, and Australian Citizenship

A piece of paper;
all humanity is bound
by art, words, and ink.

Entrance

Photo of a ship coming into Sydney harbour at sunrise.

Noses up in air,
pushing through the horizon,
ships arrive at port.

Under appreciated

Photo of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge across the water, with a large fig tree canopy overhead.

Unfazed by the world,
extravagant monuments:
trees by city lakes.

Dance

Photo of a bonsai tree leaning to one side.

Owning the full stage,
limbs sprawled; ardent expressions—
bonsai stuns viewers.

Rise

Photo of a plane’s wing as it lands, with the wing flaps engaged.

Stretching lazy limbs,
cracking joints and waking up,
overnight plane lands.
