Goodbye

Sorry you’re dying
beautiful little flower;
say hi to my mum.
Not the Golden Wattle

The older cousin,
springing ahead of season—
other acacia.
—
Fun fact: There are at least 1,000 types of acacia native to Australia. Acacia pycnantha or the Golden Wattle (not the one pictured) is Australia’s national flower, and Wattle Day is celebrated on the 1st of September, the first day of the Australian spring. The Golden Wattle blooms in spring but some other types of wattle flower through winter.
Almost

Cold feet wearing off,
the buds are ready to pop
spring is almost here.
Rise and shine

Blending of colours,
the making of an artist—
a winter sunrise.
