Battle worn

close up photo of the trunk of a sequoia tree

Soft on the outside:
crinkles, crevices, and cracks—
solid tree inside

Green

Photo of vibrant green canopies over the Avon River in Christchurch, New Zealand. — Christchurch, New Zealand. Known as the garden city.

The garden city
master designer at work:
green on green on green.

Sail

photo of boats docked on the coast, with the sunset's last rays on top of the sails.

Summer sun kissed sails—
on shore I stand longingly
gently rippling waves.

Happy

photo of the crater at Mount Eden in Auckland, as seen from the summit

High, we find ourselves
so ecstatically drunk
on fresh mountain air.

Point of view

Photo of wispy, orange clouds at sunset, as seen through a plane’s window seat.

While life feels hazy;
everything’s out of reach—
it’s sunset on air.
