Pillars of a home,
standing tall and yet apart,
holding up the roof.
Shouldering
Adaptation
Old pine in new world,
migrant species learns to live—
we bend not to break.
Dying light
The sun disappears;
lights in street corners come on,
magic in between.
Weed
Boomers of gardens;
weeds of all shapes and sizes—
there’s not mushroom left.
Worship
Bent knees and raised arms,
praying to heavenly gods,
birds of paradise.
