Bonus

photo of the Auckland sky scape lit up by the sunset

Sun-kissed cityscape;
happily homebound at five,
an autumn bonus.

Not trees

Photo of the Auckland Sky Tower flanked on all sides by tall trees.

Boxing our thoughts in
we build fences around us
but we are not trees.

Cheers

Photo of a scene from the 2004 movie, Layer cake. In the scene, Daniel Craig, as XXXX, and his friend sit drinking whisky and XXXX says, “And you find peace with guns?” as seen on the subtitles.

It’s under control;
the stories we tell others
help us sleep at night.

Crane

photo of a yellow crane as seen from below, against a vibrant, cloudless, blue sky

Mighty promises
dominating our skylines
craning for progress

Flowy

Photo of the Auckland Sky Tower flanked by tree canopy on either side.

Luscious, green, flowy;
The Sky Tower gets a skirt:
Auckland City trees.
