Joy

Photo of the sun filtering through the branches of a pepper tree, as seen from below.

Raining down blessings,
brightening up pepper trees—
summertime sunshine.

Lightseeker

Reflection of the photographer and the Qantas signboard on an airport glass wall, with a plane on the tarmac outside visible through the glass, and the strap of a backpack on the foreground.

Buzzing airport lights;
seeking a different high,
solo traveller.

Build

Photo of multiple high-storey buildings as seen from the top floor of another high-storey building.

We make those buildings
constellation defying,
masking our night skies.

Rolled

Close up photo of a yellow rose bud, with tightly wrapped petals.

Roll of fresh bank notes—
happiness for most people;
tightly bound rose bud.

Built up

Photo of a low-rise building surrounded by trees, as seen from the top floor of a high-rise building.

Puddles of concrete,
blobs of native greenery;
civilisation.
