Grevillea

close up photo of a couple of grevillea (spider flower) on the plant — Grevillea, also known as the spider flower

Warm spring afternoon
a rainbow in my backyard:
the spider flower.

Sprung

Close up photo of raindrops on a rose leaf, with a pink rose in the background.

Raindrops on roses,
clearing skies, shiny rainbows,
pollen flies; spring-ing.

Headbob

Photo of an old and peach tree, many of its old branches snapped away.

Weatherbeaten peach
grooving to the wind’s rhythms:
graceful elder tree.

Flown

Close up photo of a bird’s nest, crumbling between the branches of a flower tree.

Fledglings leave the nest,
the last of the twigs crumble:
parents’ duties done.

Spring

Photo of lush grasslands, with a creek running through it and tall gumtrees around it. — Spring is here.

Sun shines; cloudless sky,
lush grass wave at passers by—
I sneeze all the way.
