Look Out

When I leaned over from my seat trying to catch a glimpse of the sight outside, people thought I had gone mad. Who would stare out the solid glass while flying above the clouds?

I would.

And only because I was clinging to the window shade that I could see more than I could grasp in one look. Good thing I had my camera.

Look out

One True Love

one-love

Over the years, I’ve fallen in and out of love with so many things, so many times. But no matter what I declared my love to, I always came back to came back to tea and biscuits.

Something about that pair, something about the way the biscuit crumbles in my mouth and the tea washes down all my problems, along with the biscuit’s buttery remains  — it’s my one true love.

The Other Kind of Harmony

harmony

For a brief period in my life, I learnt music. But then the teacher showed such obvious favouritism to some students that I ended up hating her class.

I should have joined another music class elsewhere.

Because I didn’t, I had to resort to making harmony from trees and lamp posts.

Lingering Clue

lingering clue

“It’s too cold out there, Mark. Go read a book. Or play with your sister. Why do always want to go out into the snow?”

Mark hung his head and retreated. His mother had caught him sneaking through the door again. It wasn’t fair. He wanted to ski, and it was perfect outdoors. Maybe he’d try again later.

Mark was a great brother. His sister loved spending time with him and sharing gossip. She even told him about her first crush.

His mother was proud of him too. He was the ideal son, a good brother, and a gentleman in the making. So unlike the man in her life who had left her to chase his passion — never to return. But Mark was different. He was always there to care for his family.

Until 92′.

“I’ve got a chance to participate in the Winter Olympics preliminary round,” he announced, his voice echoing through the room.

Catherine remembered. Her brother used to clean up his snow-smudged shoes every morning.

Victorious Closure

Shakespeare is my love. And though I’ve read and enjoyed his sonnets, I had never managed to read his full plays. I read the abridged editions, yes, but the original was always beyond my ability.

An then, it changed. With some encouragement, I tried reading Hamlet — the full play. I loved every bit of it. By the time I finished reading it, I grew hungry for more.

It felt great to accomplish such a big feat and I will cherish the thrill forever. Here’s my victory: reading a complete Shakespeare play.

National Blog Posting Month – Day 15.

I’ve taken a break today from my schedule of publishing one chapter a day from my NaNoWriMo novel from two years ago. I’ll publish chapter 14 tomorrow.
