Movie magic

I am not a very great lover of the Harry Potter movies, I prefer the books. I really like reading the books. I spent sleepless nights in the company of these books. Even though the movie-form of Harry Potter didn’t appeal to me, I watch the movies, whenever I feel like it. I’ve watched the movies many times, but just recently, I realized the beauty of the landscapes (the sets and the graphics are good too) and the skillful photography.

I would say, the major winning factor of the Harry Potter movies is the technological magic (apart from the literary magic already created by the books). The good thing about the movies is that they materialized the readers’ imagination. Nothing was left for the readers to mentally visualize. That, in my opinion, is also the drawback of the movies. The greatest pleasure of reading fictitious stories, is the element of obscurity. The reader is expected to be involved in the tale through his imagination. This element is eliminated now, it’s no thanks to the movie-form of the books.
